Patch 12.1.7 Build Appears Before 12.1.5 Even Ships
PTR testing for patch 12.1.5 has only just started, and Blizzard is already preparing what comes after it. Overnight, the first encrypted build of patch 12.1.7 appeared on the download servers.
Encrypted means exactly that: the files are there but unreadable, so there is nothing to datamine yet. What their appearance confirms is that the fourth minor Midnight patch is in active development.
What 12.1.7 is expected to contain
From the published Midnight roadmap, 12.1.7 is set to bring:
- A new game mode
- Additions to the seasonal holidays
- A continuation of the story
- Another run of Turbulent Timeways
The timeline
Release is expected in early December, with public PTR testing starting around the middle of October, shortly after 12.1.5 goes live.
That puts two patches in flight at once for most of autumn: 12.1.5 on live from roughly mid-October, and 12.1.7 in testing alongside it. For anyone planning seasonal goals, it also means the current content window has a clearer end date than usual.
