Corrupted Ashbringer is the legendary blade wielded by Highlord Alexandros Mograine before his betrayal and transformation into a death knight. In WoW lore this weapon was originally the holy Ashbringer - a paladin weapon that could cleave through undead - until Mograine's son Renault murdered him with it and corrupted its power. The sword has unique mechanics where Scarlet Crusade becomes friendly, Argent Dawn becomes hostile, and wielders hear Alexandros whispering his story of betrayal. Enter Scarlet Monastery with it and the entire instance reacts to Mograine's weapon.
Getting Corrupted Ashbringer means farming Naxxramas for Four Horsemen kills. The encounter is one of Classic's hardest - it requires multiple tanks rotating between quadrants with precise timing or the raid wipes instantly. During original Classic many players cleared Naxx weekly for months without seeing it drop. Some servers only had a handful of Ashbringers total before TBC launched and removed it from the game.
